We'll finally after some three years of trying to become a sponsored runner. Running my butt of at races here in my backyard. Traveling to other regions to hold my own and sometimes get my ass kicked. I got the call I've been waiting to get. My good friend Willie Lambert. Owner of the Great Plains Running Company called me with the news Thursday evening to let me know that Salomon has agreed to sponsor myself and other runners from the Midwest region in an effort to promote the sport of Ultra Running in said region. Aside from building and nurturing the sport here in the Midwest at a grassroots level. We will also be expected to travel to larger races out of our region to give it our best. I have know doubt that the team we will assemble will rise to the occassion in meeting Salomons expectations. As ammbassadors and as atheletes.
This week we'll be getting in contact with the runners and start doing the fun stuff. Getting sizes and picking out gear. I can't wait. Its like Christmas all over again. This news will definately keep me highly motivated for a long time to come. Which makes those 100 mile weeks more bearable.
As for running this week. I did decided to stick with the idea of two a days. So far this week I have run a total just shy of 85 miles with one more day to come. The last four days I've been averaging around 18 per day. Well 20 on Monday. Tuesday I did a little over fifteen. Wednesday was 21. something. Yesterday was like 16 so it averages out around 18 or so a day. Last Saturday and Sunday I only did like 12 total for the two days. You get the idea. I can't really say that my legs feel all that bad though its still to early to tell yet. I'll try another week like this if I can handle it and then just put in a really long tapper. Knocking like ten miles off a week until one week before 3 Days. In which I'll take like the last five days before the race off.
I can't wait for 3 Days this year. Its a new course like it is every year. I get to see and hang out with all my buddies from Arkansas. Theres always good food and stories. This year they even have live folk music after the runs. Theres still time to sign up if anyone is interested. So if you don't have anything planned for the month of March you should definately check this one out. We'll see you all out there.
