Tireds a Good Thing.

I'm almost ready. Today I went for an easy ride on the bike. Legs felt strong but tired at the same time. Most people would suggest thats not a good sign. I say I'm just about ready. My heart rate stayed low throughout the ride and I recovered quickly after each hill. All signs of a complete recovery from 3 Days.
Fear, excitement, nausea, regret. I feel like a rodeo bull just before he gets turned loose. A walking time bomb. Race day can't get here fast enough for me. I don't figure I have enough in me to stay with Eric Grossman or the course record holder Tom Whalen but who knows. If things come together if they make bad decisions or try to wipe one another out early on. I can hang back play it cool and maybe give myself a chance. I'm hoping to fly under the radar. You know "Dave who?" just the way I like it. No special tactics, no detailed race plans are in order, hell I'm not even going to wear a watch. Just myself a pair of shoes and a finishline.

No Ride Today.

Well no ride today. The weather was just right, life just got in the way. I find thats the case the older I get. Too many plates to juggle and not enough arms. Sometimes I wonder how Dean Karnazes does it. I guess I probably could wing it but I cherish sleep too much. Shift work doesn't help either. You gotta do what you gotta do right? I'll try and get that ride in tommorow. It won't be nowhere near 50 miles though. 30 to 40 sounds about right. After that probably a tempo 16 or so then a tempo run every other day until about the 15th of May then a four day taper to follow. Tear it up on race day.

Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink!

Whatelse is new? Well if you live here in Kansas then nothing. Rain again today and probably for the next few days. Ran a 10 km trail race on Saturday. The course wasn't bad. I just had a bad day. Finished 4th overall and about 4 minutes off my normal pace. No excuses though. You can't win 'em all and I don't.
Yesterday I went out for a nice run to clear my head. Ofcourse it was raining cats and dogs. One section of the trail was knee high water for about a 1/4 mile and the rest was sloppy mud. I had a good time. I ended up doing about 18 miles. Today no running. Tommomrow I'm going to try and get in a 50 mile bike ride if the weather holds out for a few hours.
